Star Residents:
No-sort recycling is coming!
No ordering necessary for the 95-gal. blue cart
Starting this fall, Star residents will have the opportunity to recycle using blue, no-sort carts. Carts are available in two sizes: 95-, 65- gallons. Smaller, 48-gallon carts will be available upon request.
A 95-gallon recycling cart is standard and will be delivered to each household unless a smaller cart is requested. Recycling will be collected every-other-week so plan for some extra capacity.
Recycling will remain unlimited, but be sure to fill the cart first. Additional materials may be set out in overflow containers labeled "recycling" and placed next to your recycling cart.
Standard service will include one gray trash cart and one blue, no-sort recycling cart. If you are one of the 80% of Star's residents that already uses a trash cart, your rate will not change. If you are on of the 20% of Star's residents who uses trash cans, your new service will include two carts and your rate will change to that which includes cart service. Senior and low-income discounts are available.
Carts will be delivered that last two weeks of October and a "Carts are Arriving Next week" postcard will be mailed to you the week before cart delivery.
Here are some things to remember about your new recycling program:
1. Recycling collection is Every-Other-W
eek.
2. Look under your recycling cart lid to determine whether you are an ORANGE or BLUE customer. Once you know, please refer to the recycling collection calendar that will be delivered in your handout materials. The recycling calendar will outline your collection weeks for the entire year.
3. Use the decal under your recycling cart lid to help identify what can and cannot be recycled.
