Republic Services Inc. (NYSE:RSG), formerly Allied Waste, has been hauling garbage and recycling in Idaho for almost thirty years. We are a national leader in environmental services and provide solid waste collection, transfer, disposal, and recycling services to solid waste markets in 40 states and Puerto Rico. We are an environmentally responsible partner, promoting sustainable practices that preserve and protect our natural resources in Idaho and beyond. We are founding members of the Treasure Valley Clean Cities Coalition and regularly invest in equipment, technology and "best" management practices that maximize operational efficiency while ensuring the safety of our customers, employees and the environment.
We proudly employ over 260 employees in Ada, Canyon and Elmore Counties. Company-wide we have 31,000 men and women throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Republic Services employees are trained on the latest technology and equipment, and use the highest safety standards. Regional support staff includes landfill engineers, equipment managers and safety specialists all with expertise in facility management, design, and construction management. We provide services to approximately 13 million commercial and residential customers. We have the operational capabilities, capital resources, experience and integrated infrastructure to meet any customers' long-term waste and recycling needs.
Environmental responsibility is our business. We are continually researching, developing and implementing innovative technologies to help us conserve natural resources. We are committed to sustainable development for all facilities, including end uses such as the utilization of landfill gas and solar caps to harvest energy. Programs such as these allow assets that may have been underutilized or idle in the past to serve as integral components of a community.
